The majority of Maricopa County voters have an unfavorable view of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, according to a new poll.
Public Policy Polling found that only 38 percent of county voters have a favorable view of Arpaio, compared with 53 percent who have an unfavorable view of him.
"It's hard to say if Maricopa voters unhappy with him -- especially the Republican ones -- would go so far as to vote him out, but he's clearly not in good standing right now," pollster Tom Jensen writes.

Outside Maricopa County, where the taxpayers don't pay for lawsuits against Arpaio -- nor are they able to vote for him -- his favorability rating is much higher, at 50 percent.
Not surprisingly, older people tend to like Arpaio more than young people.
That's not the only result from the Public Policy Polling survey, which asked questions on several topics, from the favorability of cacti (44 percent) to opposition to Daylight Savings Time (69 percent).
On the political side, voters actually gave President Obama a higher approval rating than Governor Doug Ducey.
That's in part to Democrats being much more enthusiastic about Obama than Republicans were for Ducey, though Republicans generally think Ducey's doing a good job.
Self-described moderates also gave Ducey very bad marks.
Other results from the poll: A majority of Arizonans didn't support the cuts to education, and a majority would also support a 1-cent-per-dollar sales tax to help offset cuts to education.
