A convicted rapist, who has already served a prison sentence for sexual assault, is headed back to the big house after being found guilty of sexual assault (again) and kidnapping yesterday.
At the very least, 34-year-old Jacob Israel Randles is looking at a minimum sentence of 94 years in prison when he's sentenced for the 12 felony counts for which he's been convicted.
"This violent repeat offender will spend the rest of his life in prison,
where he belongs," says Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.
Randles was convicted in 1997 in a separate sexual assault case. He served 10 years before being released in 2007.
Upon release, Randles was quick to get back to work.
On October 27, 2007, Randles sexually assaulted a woman at his brother's
apartment. Less than a week later, on November 4, Randles sexually
assaulted two women at gunpoint in the same apartment.
One of the victims was able to escape and call police.
But Randles wasn't going quietly -- when police showed up, he held the
woman still in the apartment hostage until the SWAT Team showed up, busted down the door, and shot him in the head. Sadly, he survived, but will now likely spend the rest of his life in prison.
