Three weeks after a trio robbed a CVS Pharmacy of thousands of prescription pills, Silent Witness is increasing its reward to anyone who comes forward.
Purdue Pharma L.P., the owners of RxPATROL -- a collaboration to stop pharmacy theft -- donated $2,500 to Silent Witness for the case, bringing the total reward for information leading to the arrests of the suspects to a maximum of $3,500.
The three men entered the pharmacy on the 3400 block of West Glendale Avenue with handguns about 3 a.m. January 27. Two of the men tied up employees while the other hopped the counter to the pharmacy, police say.
When we first reported on the OxyContin Bandits, cops said the men had nabbed just over 5,000 prescription pills, mostly OxyContin, with a street value of more than $100,000.
Now police say it was actually around 6,200 OxyContin pills, with a street value of more than $175,000.
Two of the suspects are described as white men, around 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, between the ages of 20 and 30.
The other man, whom police say was casing the store the night before the robbery, is described as black, about 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, and between the ages of 25 and 30.
