The Phoenix Police Department has released a sketch of the man cops believe is responsible for the bizarre February murder of a Phoenix woman.
About 2 a.m. on February 27, 22-year-old Alexcia Salsberry and a friend were driving home from a party in west Phoenix. The women got into an argument, Phoenix police say, and stopped the car at a tire store near 50th Avenue and McDowell Road.
While stopped, police say an unknown suspect pulled up next to the two women and asked if everything was all right. The girls said everything was fine, and pulled away from the man.
It was then that the women heard a "pop" -- police say the man fired a bullet through the back window of the victim's car, fatally wounding Salsberry, who was riding in the passenger seat.
The suspect then took off.
The surviving woman got help from a bystander, who called police.
Phoenix police spokesman Sergeant Trent Crump told New Times at the time of the murder that the friend with whom Salsberry was arguing is not a suspect.
"As far as we can tell, she was a victim in this, too," Crump tells New Times.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 20s, with a bald or shaved head. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a light-colored T-shirt and driving an SUV matching the description provided above.
