Steve Nash, rumored to be a free-agent target of the New York Knicks in the upcoming offseason, scored 26 points against the Knicks on Wednesday night in New York as the Phoenix Suns broke a five-game losing streak. The 91-88 final score extended the struggling Knicks' losing skid to four games
But perhaps the biggest points of the game came from Nash's teammate Shannon Brown, who rattled home a three-pointer with 35 seconds to play in the game, giving the Suns a five-point lead. Brown ended up with 14 points on the night. Grant Hill also scored 14 for the Suns. Marcin Gortat led the way in rebounding with 12 boards.
The win comes one night after a particularly dreadful 118-97 loss to the Chicago Bulls, who were playing with out their all-star, Derrick Rose.
"It's been a tough year; we've had a tough stretch," Nash said after the game. "So, for us, any win is a huge relief and hopefully will give us some confidence, and maybe get us going a little bit."
The Knicks were led by former Suns star Amar'e Stoudemire's 23 points, but New York's woeful shooting from both the floor (37.2 percent) and the foul line (66.7 percent) did them in. They are now 6-8, despite the presence of superstars Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony.
