Police in Pinal County are looking for a man they believe shot and killed his ex-wife in the parking lot of a church last night.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office got a call around 7 p.m. yesterday from a man at the Christ the Victor church in Florence saying shots had been fired at the church.
When the cops got to the scene, they found 35-year-old Jamie Gallegos dead in the parking lot.
Gallegos, police say, was taking her two children, ages 7 and 9, to karate practice at the church when she was shot.
The investigation is ongoing, but authorities believe Gallegos'
ex-husband, 39-year-old Dominic Donatella, is the person who shot her.
PCSO spokesman Tim Gaffney tells New Times Donatella was arrested in May for domestic violence. Gaffney says Gallegos was the victim in that incident, as well.
Donatella, police believe, is now on the run. Cops found his Kia
mini-van abandoned near Interstate 8 near Gila Bend this morning and
police say he may be heading to California.
Donatella is described as being 5-foot-5, 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with any information as to Donatella's whereabouts is asked to call police.
