The Phoenix Police Department has identified the man found shot to death in front of a Phoenix hotel on Sunday.

The victim is 38-year-old Timothy Wallis, the PPD announced today.

About 3 a.m. Sunday, people heard gunshots in the Premier Inns near Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue.

Security at the hotel checked the area where the gunshots were heard and found Wallis shot to death in front of the hotel.

The security guard called police, who apparently didn't find too much evidence.

"At this time, there is not much for the detectives to go on," Phoenix Sergeant Tommy Thompson says.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide but need the public's help in finding out who did it.

If anyone has information about the shooting, they're asked to call
the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.  The number is 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
