Forget Qwest's "Heavy Duty Internet" commercials -- the Qwest truck that crashed into a Phoenix home Tuesday morning seems pretty heavy duty as well.
Phoenix police Sergeant Tommy Thompson tells New Times that a worker driving a Qwest utility truck crashed into a home at North 27th Avenue and West San Miguel Road around 10 a.m., hospitalizing a 4-year-old girl.
Thompson says the man driving the truck was with other workers in the vehicle at a parking lot of a shopping center on the west side of 27th Avenue.
The man then crashed through a wrought iron fence in the shopping center, across 27th Avenue, through a brick wall, and into the front of the residence.
Three others in the house, a 23-year-old woman and her two youngest children, ages 2 years and 10 months, were not injured in the crash.
The 4-year-old girl hospitalized did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to Thompson says.
While it's not clear to police what caused the man to crash the vehicle, Thompson says, "There didn't appear to be anything necessarily wrong with him."
