Interestingly, the number of passengers going through the airport pretty much coincided with the recession.

In March (usually the busiest month) of 2006, 2007, and 2008, there were more than 3.8 million passengers coming and going at Sky Harbor.

By March 2009, there were fewer than 3.5 million passengers, then more than 3.5 million in March 2010, more than 3.7 million in March 2011, more than 3.8 million in March 2012, and more than 3.9 million in March of last year.
