If you're going to all the trouble of committing armed robbery -- even if you're really only looking for prescription pills -- you might as well take some cash, too.
You see, pill-poppers, once you polish off the pharmies you rob, you can often use money to buy more -- kind of a two-birds-one-stone type of thing.
This is a concept the suspect in a Surprise pharmacy robbery didn't seem to understand. The guy went through the headache of holding up a Walgreens, took pills, but left the cash.
According to the Surprise Police Department, an unknown suspect robbed the Walgreens Pharmacy near 155th Avenue and Waddell Road last night.
The suspect approached a pharmacist, flashed a piece, and then asked for OxyContin and Percocet.
The pharmacist handed over the drugs, and the robber left.
At the time of the robbery, there was a gray, late-model, two-door passenger vehicle in the parking lot with the engine running. Nobody saw the suspect get in the vehicle, but police say it may have been used as a getaway vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 25 years old, 5-foot-6, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, black jeans, black shoes, and black sunglasses.
