A Tempe cannabis-industry promoter will have to adjust her marketing plan following her arrest this week after her 21-month-old daughter ate THC-laced macaroni and cheese.
The toddler consumed pot-laced butter as she chomped down mac and cheese with her dad in their house on the 1600 block of East Broadmor Drive on April 4, court records state.
The girl fell under the obvious effects of THC. But instead of calling for medical help, a witness reportedly told police, 26-year-old Alaina Marie Limpert and her husband "laughed about the side effects the child experienced during that time and then proceeded to place her into their backyard pool to use the cold water to 'shock' her."
Police arrested Limpert at around 2 a.m. April 5 and booked her into county jail on suspicion of child abuse.
State child welfare agents, notified April 6, took all three of Limpert's children into protective custody.
Blood tests showed THC in the toddler's bloodstream, records state.
Limpert told police she cooked the pot-laced mac and cheese but didn't know the girl had eaten any.
Tempe police said they found two tents inside the garage where the Limperts were growing as many as 20 pot plants. They also found used bongs, pipes, and hash oil, which mom later told detectives she had made — and they found the saucepan with the leftover mac and cheese.
"A sample of that macaroni, along with the large tubs of THC butter, was confiscated as evidence," Tempe police reported.
The search warrant didn't stop there. According to police, detectives found a "large bag" of magic mushrooms, three large tubs of pot butter, and a tote bag containing fresh pot.
Investigators said a live-in-nanny admitted to watering the pot plants in the garage.
Alaina Limpert has no previous prosecutions in Maricopa County Superior Court. She describes herself on her Facebook page as CEO of Marijuana Demographic, where since November, she does "online marketing for the cannabis community."
State corporate records confirm that she has organized a limited liability corporation at her home, called MD Clickframe LLC.
No one immediately returned messages left with the company.
