We won't get into the questionable historical significance of the 5th of May in Mexican culture, because if we're being honest, we're just using it an excuse to have one too many margaritas on an otherwise completely average Monday. So if you will also be partaking in some Cinco de Drinko shenanigans, here are a few places where you can eat and drink (and maybe even get a discount) on Cinco de Mayo this year.

Barrio Queen Tequileria

As it so happens, Cinco de Mayo coincides with Margarita Monday at Barrio Queen in Scottsdale. Every Monday from open to close the restaurant offers half off all margaritas -- and that includes the Skinny Cholla version that features Jose Cuervo Traditional Silver, fresh squeezed lime juice, and agave nectar.

La Hacienda

La Hacienda, located at the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess, will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo party with strolling mariachis, a street-style taco cart, a guacamole sampling station, churros, and piñatas. The restaurant's Tequila Goddess Abeer Besharieh will be offering tequila samples along with Mija, the resort's beer burro, who will pose for photos from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Sandbar Desert Ridge

Get your toes in the sand up at Desert Ridge on Monday and you can get $3 Dos Equis, and $5 house margaritas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sandbar will also have drink specials, live music, and DJs on Saturday and Sunday.

Gallo Blanco

Gallo Blanco, located inside the Clarendon Hotel, is one of our favorite spots of a Mexican happy hour. Everyday from 3 to 6 p.m. the restaurant and bar offers deals that includes $5 guacamole (some of the best in town), discounted tacos, and $5 house margaritas. Happy hour beer deals also include $3 Negra Modelos.

Barrel Grill & Modern Saloon

In celebration of Cince de Mayo Barrel Grill & Modern Saloon in Peoria will be serving four different food and drink specials. Discounted drinks include half priced house margaritas ($3.50) and $2 Mexican beers including Dos Equis and Coronas. Food specials will include $4.25 Skillet con Queso and Cowboy Tacos for $7.50.

SOL Mexican Cocina

Located at the Scottsdale Quarter, SOL Mexican Cocina specializes in modern Baja-style cuisine. The restaurant will serve Corralejo Watermelon Basil Margarita and SOL's seasonal guacamole for $5 all day on Cinco de Mayo.

Mi Patio Mexican Restaurant

Okay, we'll admit that Mi Patio doesn't serve the best margaritas in town. But they do come cheap and in large pitchers. A giant one will set you back only $9.50, which means there's plenty of cash leftover for their plates of inexpensive Sonoran-style Mexican food.

Dos Gringos

This Tempe party spot is hosting four full days of Cinco celebrations, which will begin on Friday, May 2. Dos Gringos' best deals will actually be offered on Saturday, May 3 when you can get $3 Vodka Cherry and Grape, $4 Fireball, $4 Pineapple Mind Erasers, $5 Vodka Red Bulls from 9 p.m. to close.

Salty Senorita

In addition to offering happy hour deals all weekend, Salty Senorita in Peoria will have several Cinco de Mayo deals going on Monday, May 5. They include $7 1800 Maria's Choice, $6 Zarco el Senora Margaritas' a $5 signature specialty cocktail, and $3 street tacos. Cover will be $5 a person beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

If you want to celebrate Cinco sans booze, head to Sprinkles Cupcakes in Scottsdale, where you can get a limited- edition Mexican-inspired margarita cupcake. The treat features tequila-key lime cake topped with key lime frosting and a rim of fleur de sel. The cupcakes will be available Friday, May 2, through Thursday, May 22.
