Someburros Scavenger Hunt Today through Saturday, July 12

Now through Saturday, Someburros is celebrating its 28th year of business with twice-daily Piñata Hunts. The restaurant is thanking customers for their years of loyalty by stashing two piñatas around town every day. At 9 a.m., Someburros will give hints Twitter and Facebook about where the goodies are located. The first to arrive at the locations will get dibs on the piñatas, which will be loaded with Someburros loot, including gift cards to put toward burros, hot sauce, and pollo fundido.

5th Annual Arizona Wine Awards Saturday, July 12

On Saturday, the 5th Annual Arizona Wine Awards will head to Whole Foods at Town and Country for an evening of wine tasting. The event, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., will feature wines from more than 20 different Arizona wineries. Attendees will be able to sample about 60 wines and then vote for their favorites. Participating wineries include Pillsbury Winery, Arizona Stronghold, Grand Canyon Wineries, and Page Springs Cellars. Tickets cost $10 per person or $15 per couple and can be purchased online.

Weekend Tasting Menu at Lon's Saturday, July 12

This summer, Lon's at the Hermosa Inn is offering a Weekend Tasting Menu that includes five courses crafted by chef James Ducas. The menu, which may change from week to week, costs $65 a person and includes dishes like Lon's Cellar cured prosciutto; carrot, ricotta, and pecan tortellini; and chocolate pudding cake. Supplemental wine pairings are also available for $35 a person. The tasting menu is available on Friday and Saturday only. For reservations, call 602-955-7878.

VEEV Spirits Pool Pitcher Competition & Pool Party Sunday, July 13

Head to the Saguaro hotel in Scottsdale this Sunday to see some of the city's mixologists go head-to-head in a cocktail competition featuring VEEV Spirits. The all-natural spirit made with açaí and other natural flavors will be the base for all the drinks -- which will be created in 32-ounce pitchers, as opposed to the usual cocktail glass. The event also will include a pool party, games, and live music. The competition begins at 2 p.m.; doors open at noon. Sunday Brunch at Gadzooks Sunday, July 13

Central Phoenix has a new Sunday brunch option now that Gadzooks has added the meal. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every weekend, the enchilada-centric spot serves ingredients such as a housemade jalapeño potato hash and cooked-to-order eggs. The restaurant also offers brunch booze in the form of an Osborn Oro margarita that features fresh-squeezed ruby red grapefruit, lime, and brown sugar simple syrup; 7th Street Sangria; or ice-cold cervesa.
