If you're a whiskey lover finding it difficult to inspire that romantic feeling, there's good news about getting out of Valentine's Day doldrums. Since the first release of Copper City Bourbon, it seemed Rodney Hu and his team at Arizona Distilling Co. were excitedly chatting about the all-Arizona-made whiskey they were aging.
Starting today, that whiskey is available in limited quantities at the distillery in downtown Tempe, and we know what you can expect from the historic, one-of-a-kind Desert Durum Wheat Whiskey in terms of flavor and price.
What a nice way to celebrate Arizona's birthday.

Arizona Distilling Co. is making history again with the state's very first grain to bottle whiskey made from Durum wheat and distilled, aged, and bottled in the distillery at 508 West First Street in Tempe. The Durum wheat, which is commonly grown and shipped to Italy to make pasta, is grown in southern Arizona.
According to Hu, who quotes one of the industry's top sensory analysts, the whiskey tastes as follows:
"There is an initial sweetness on the nose, which is rather like a molasses-based rum. Also there is caramel candy, saltwater toffee, molasses, pecan pie filling, black Mission fig and other dried dark fruit. Exceptionally spicy, with black peppercorn, allspice, cinnamon stick, cardamom, cayenne pepper, and cedar chest."
Now if that doesn't inspire amorous feelings, we don't know what will. Pick up your own bottle at the distillery for $40, but do so quickly because there are only about 250 bottles available.
