Since opening last March Barrelhouse American Kitchen & Cocktails has been a bright light in the East Valley dining and drinking scene. With knock-out cocktails and mostly-satisfying food, the restaurant has brought a welcome new option to the neighborhood.

Now the restaurant has welcomed a new chef to lead the kitchen team. Stephan Germanaud comes to the Valley by way of France and has most recently worked at the historic Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix. Diners will have a chance to try Germanaud's cuisine at the upcoming Arts & Craft Cocktail Dinner next week.

Germanaud, who came to the Valley at the age of 20, grew up in Bordeaux, France and has a degree in French Culinary Art from the Lycee de L'Hotellerie et du Tourisme De Gascone in Talence, France.

His resume includes time at the Phoenician, Vincent's on Camelback, Carefree Station, and The Boulders Resort. He also owned restaurants around the state, including Backstage Bistro and Bar in Scottsdale and N-Fusions French Bistro in Sedona.

Germanaud took over the kitchen at the Wrigley Mansion back in 2012.

On Monday, December 15 you'll be able to taste the chef's interpretation of local artist Shain LaBarge's work. At the Art & Craft Cocktails Dinner, Germanaud has created a four course menu with each course inspired by a different painting. Each course also comes paired with cocktail inspired by the same work of art.

The dinner starts at 6 p.m. and costs $65 a person. For reservations call 480-857-8877.
