Everyone’s always trying to find out what’s under 21-year-old bartender Naomii Musial’s skirt. That’s because the slender, tanned brunette works at Tilted Kilt, the South Tempe bar that combines Hooter-licious hotties in teeny plaid minis with the perks of an Irish pub and sports bar. Outside of work, the Wisconsin native is a club-hopping socialite who spends her down time cheering for the Green Bay Packers or watching Tarantino flicks with her boyfriend. Naomii took a few minutes to chat with me about that infamous plaid uniform and her plans to wiggle out of it someday soon.
Chow Bella: How long have you been bartending? Naomii Musial: About seven or eight months. I started as a server here. I kept telling them I wanted to [bartend] and they finally let me try.
CB: Why the Tilted Kilt? NM: I came in here and I liked the atmosphere. I'm a very upbeat, outgoing person and that's what this job is like. They wanted us to talk to everybody. And I'm a great talker.
CB: What did you do before you started working at the Tilted Kilt? NM: Before this I was a Hooters girl. And a cheerleading coach.
CB: You worked at Hooters? Wow. How do you feel about wearing another skimpy uniform? NM: Here, they have a really intense interview process and they make you try on the costume before you get hired. It's like wearing a bikini; it doesn't bother me. I think it's a self-confidence thing. Females have the most beautiful bodies, so why hide it?
CB: What’s your favorite cocktail? NM: A cherry chocolatini. My favorite drink to make, when I'm not busy, is a lemon drop martini. It's Citron vodka, lemonade, lemon, sugar and triple sec, with a sugar rim.
CB: Dumb question, but do you get hit on a lot? NM: It comes with the territory working in a place like this. I take it as a compliment. I get guys in here who are crazy jealous that I have a boyfriend and say they're never coming in again. There are women who come in and hit on me too. Again, I take it as a compliment.
CB: What's the worst pickup line you've heard on the job? NM: It was so ridiculous. A guy told me that I was so right, I'm left from right. To this day, I'm not sure what that means.
CB: Do you have a 5-year plan? NM: I'm up for a corporate promotion here. If that happens, I'm going to finish getting my business degree and stay with the company. Otherwise, I'm going to nursing school and I want to be a labor and delivery nurse.
CB: You must get some interesting folks in here. Tell us about one of your most memorable moments. NM: There was this girl who came in on football Sunday and she got wasted with her husband. One of the managers cut her off and she started screaming at the servers. I'm over here with my girlfriend, sitting at a table, and we're not working. My girlfriend says "you shouldn't have done that." The girl whips her head around and tells my friend she should go be a stripper. As she's leaving with her husband, [the drunken chick] turns around and gives me the "licking the V" sign. She's winking and blowing kisses at all the girls as she's walking out the door.
