What'd you eat for dinner last night? The Bistro Burger at Maizie's with bacon and sweet potato fries, right across the street from our new theatre.
Favorite food: The Bacon Explosion. It's four pounds of bacon and sausage, and you weave the bacon like a quilt so that it holds the sausage. Then you cover it with crispy bacon, and it has barbecue sauce and a pork rub, and it's baked. See how to make it here.
Least favorite food: Yogurt. Yuck.
Favorite dessert: White chocolate brownies with maple butter syrup
Favorite local restaurant and meal to order there: I can't afford it too often, but any chance to go down to Durant's for their prime rib is a special kind of joy.
Favorite local bar and cocktail to order there: Ticoz makes one of the best Bloody Marys in town. When you ask for them spicy, they make them spicy.
Favorite thing to cook at home: Tie--chicken parmesan or mac n' cheese
Favorite memory involving food: For my birthday, (my friend and Phoenix New Times contributor) Jose Gonzalez took me to Venezia's Pizza in Tempe for their two-person pizza challenge. I am an exuberant eater; he is not. His tummy ran out before mine did, but the final bite was taunting me until he "threw himself on the grenade," forcing down the finale of that pizza. I've rarely been as proud of a picture on a pizzeria wall.
Recipe or food tip to share: Ice cream burritos. Fry a tortilla in butter and cinnamon. Fill the tortilla with ice cream and your choice of toppings before wrapping it.
