at the boxes along the cereal aisle might never be the same after viewing the latest show at After Hours Gallery: "Cereal Killers," featuring Porland-based artist Brian Kappel's dark but still-sweet mixed media pieces featuring his take on popular breakfast treats.

You'll find flavors like "Zombie O's" and "Cranial Krisp Zombie Food", and our favorite -- "Sugar Frosted Sugar Clumps with Marshmallows." Back in Portland, Kappel freelances through his company Space Monkey Designs and also works to excite the new generation of artists in his local elementary school's art literature program. We wonder if he'll use any of these pieces to give those kids a new perspective on graphic artistry in food packaging.

Kappel's work will be on view at the After Hours Gallery weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends by appointment -- now through November 2nd.
