There are farmers, there are chefs, and there are diners. While all are a part of eating out, it's rare the three groups come together all at once -- at least, not like this.
Outstanding in the Field, a "restaurant without walls," organizes seasonal farm dinner events throughout the country in an effort to "re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it."
Similar to what we've seen in the movies or in upscale magazines, the events hosted by Outstanding in the Field are exquisite: a beautifully set, long table at a farm or garden with guests being served meals with local ingredients by a celebrated chef.
This ahh-inducing event is only happening once this year in Phoenix -- at Maya's Farm with FnB chef Charleen Badman preparing the meal.

The Outstanding in the Field dining event with Charleen Badman and Maya Dailey at Maya's Farm is 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 30.
Guests can expect to mingle a bit with a glass of wine before an introductory talk and a tour of Maya Dailey's new field down the road from South Mountain. After the tour, dinner is served family style with a meal composed by Badman using local ingredients courtesy of Dailey. Wines are paired with each course.
Tickets are $180 per person which includes a reception with wine and passed appetizers, four seated courses with wine pairings, all gratuities, producer discussions, and a tour of the farm. It is estimated there will be 130-150 people at this event.
