If you've been to the Cupcake Love-In or have munched on a sweet treat from Butter & Me in Scottsdale, you've seen and tasted what Kelly Garcia can do (she founded the event and owns the bakery). And recently, Garcia's decided to add a little coffee to the mix.

Purpose Coffee, Garcia's new java shop inside her Old Town bake shop Butter & Me, quietly opened last October. But husband Joe tells me it's a work in progress, with much needing to get done before an official (and yet-to-be-announced) grand opening.
Here's what coffee (and pastry) lovers can expect.
Purpose will offer coffees from multiple roasters (many from the Northwest, San Francisco, and Los Angeles areas) as well as teas and a small, daily changing lineup of sweet and savory dishes. Garcia's focus, as it is with her bakery, will be on scratch-made foods using fresh, local, and in may cases, organic ingredients. And for those who can't make it down to the store, delivery is available.
Garcia's husband Joe tells me Kelly also plans on holding baking and cooking classes in the space (think a how-to on making crepes). For each kind of class, a chef or expert in the area will be the instructor.
And because Butter & Me also shares a space with Kaleidoscope Juice, shoppers can pick up an organic, cold-pressed juice along with a pastry. Hot, cold, sweet, savory -- looks like everyone wins.
