In the mood for some new summertime fare with minty freshness? Me, too.
District American Kitchen & Wine Bar, the American comfort food restaurant at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, has a rooftop garden bursting with several varieties of the flavorful herb (think chocolate mint, pineapple mint, spearmint, and peppermint), and they're being used to create some dishes that look pretty amazing thanks to chef Jay Bogsinske and pastry chef Winnona Herr.
"Mint is a great herb for summer," said Herr. "It's easy to grow, can sustain many climates, and tolerates the intense Arizona summertime heat. We pick the mint as it takes over our garden, producing abundant amounts that we can then incorporate into our summer menu selections."
See the menu and find out how long these minty meals will last after the jump.
The new menu includes a three melon salad with chocolate mint, a strawberry short stack, grasshopper whoopie pies, an ice cream cookie sandwich trio with mint ice cream, and a chocolate mint martini.
The District's new summer menu selections are available until the end of September.
