The good news is that for fans of Lola Coffee, the top-notch java shop on Roosevelt Row, there soon will be a Central Phoenix location in which to enjoy owner Daniel Wayne's fresh-roasted coffee and housemade pastries.
The even better news is that for those who remember Lola Tapas, the Spanish tapas bar Wayne opened with his then-wife Felicia Ruiz in Central Phoenix in 2005 (the restaurant shuttered in 2010), its Spanish snacks and appetizers are coming to the new Lola as well.
And artisan doughnuts? Yeah, that's going to happen, too.

The new Lola is planned to open in late February at The Yard, restaurateur Sam Fox's 53,000-square-foot dining and hangout space on Seventh Street in north Central Phoenix (Lola will be adjacent to Fox's seafood restaurant, Little Cleo's).
"The Yard is something different," Wayne says about the location. "There's nothing like it in the Valley."
Along with its coffee, which is roasted on site, and homemade bakery items, Wayne says, the newest Lola also will offer artisan doughnuts as well as breakfast and light-lunch dishes. In the evenings, Wayne tells me, he'll do a Spanish theme of tapas and adult libations -- similar to what he used to serve at Lola Tapas.
The new Lola will be open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight. A second location of Lola Coffee, with Tammie Coe Cakes, opened at Terminal Four in the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport last summer. For more information, see the Lola Coffee Facebook page.
