It's a sad day for East Valley diners. Over the weekend, owner Danielle Morris announced plans to close her New American comfort food haven, Earnest, in Chandler.

"I’ll miss seeing our neighbors, regulars, and friends,” Morris says in a press release. “The entire community has been so wonderful to us over the past 11 years between Cork and Earnest, thank you all so much.”

Earnest debuted in June 2014 after the closure of Cork, a well-loved upscale wine bar that was open for about six years. Morris and executive chef Brian Peterson closed that restaurant, completed two weeks of renovations, and opened Earnest in the same spot, billing the new restaurant as more approachable than its predecessor and switching the emphasis from wine to craft beer.

Earnest will close after a last service on Wednesday, March 30. Until then, guests are invited to stop in for happy hour or dinner. Reservations can be made by calling 480-883-3773.
