The inaugural Phoenix Unknown: World Music and Night Market will feature more than 30 food vendors. Chris Bianco will be representing Italy, but you can also grab some savory French food at Curbside Crepes, stop by Cornish Pasty Company for an Oggie, or sample some Ethiopian at Abyssinia Restaurant and Cafe. Other food vendors include Phoenix Coqui, Chang Noi, and the premiere of Belly from Instrumental Hospitality Group. The event goes from 7 p.m. till midnight on Friday, September 13, at The Van Buren. Local talent such as Claudio Urciuoli of Pa‘La and Cat Bunnag of Glai Baan will show off their foodie finesse during cocktail hour. As the tale is told, the original Oktoberfest was a five-day communal celebration of the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria and his princess, held just outside Munich. But one day should be just enough in downtown Phoenix. Funkhaus Brass Band will play New Orleans-style hits, and Brat Haus and Eur Haus food truck are just a couple of the bite options. From 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Drive Wood Fired Grill food truck will have the meats and Doughlicious will scoop doughy delights for sweet teeth of adults and children alike. Party the night away to local groups like The Black Moods, but don't feel so bad about it — a portion of the event's proceeds will benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.
