If not, locally-owned Italian restaurant Andiamo Italian Bistro at 6987 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale is serving up a romantic New Year's supper that might pique your interest. From 7-8 p.m. this evening, local soprano Janet Morel will be entertaining guests with a selection of classical arias and Italian opera songs. Morel currently trains at the Bel Canto studios in Scottsdale. Between the Italian food and the singing, this is bound to be better than sitting through another round of butchered 4 Non Blondes and Michael Jackson songs at some bar's New Year's Eve karaoke night.
Andiamo opens tonight at 5 p.m., with an ala carte menu of Italian specialties including pasta puttanesca, zuppa di pesce and veal saltimbocca. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m., but the bar will remain open late to usher in the New Year with a toast. Call 480-483-5051 for info or reservations.
