You know good weather and good eating are on the way when Vincent's Camelback Market opens up after its summer hiatus. Held Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot right next to Vincent's on Camelback, it's one of my favorite weekend pitstops for fresh veggies, homemade croissants, wine, cheese, you name it. Usually, I go hungry just so I have an excuse to order a savory crepe or a pesto-slathered panini, made by chef Vincent Guerithault's two boys. (Damn, I feel old just thinking about how much those kids have grown in the years I've been going to the market...)
Anyway, this Saturday, October 6, marks the return of the market.
Coming up later this month, on October 24, there's yet another reason for farmer's market fanatics to rejoice: the Downtown Phoenix Public Market is introducing Wednesday operating hours (4 to 8 p.m.), in addition to the popular ongoing Saturday hours (8 a.m. to noon; til 1 p.m. starting Oct. 20).
That'll definitely help tide you over til the weekend. The Downtown Phoenix Public Market takes place at 721 N. Central, at the southeast corner of McKinley and Central. Visit the market's website for a coupon good for one dollar off any purchase.
