For more than 20 years, Martha Stewart has been selecting a few American companies each year to showcase at the annual American Made Awards. Held in New York City, the event spotlights American artisans and makers in various categories.
This year, Phoenix-based Hayden Flour Mills is one of a small number of American Made Award Winners. Nine of ten winners are chosen by the executive editorial team of Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart, while one People's Choice winner is chosen by the audience.

In addition to winning a trip for two to New York City to attend the American Made event, Hayden Flour Mills has also won $10,000 to grow the business; a video produced by the Martha Stewart team; and the opportunity to be featured in Martha Stewart Living magazine.
The family business was started by father-daughter team Jeff and Emma Zimmerman and works to re-introduce Arizona's heirloom wheats and grains to diners. Hayden Flour Mills grows several types of heirloom grains, including White Sonora, the oldest variety of wheat in North America.
Using an Austrian stone mill, Hayden Flour Mills produces a line of simple, fresh products including baking mixes, stoneground polenta, pasta flour, pizza flour, and artisan bread flour.
