We've got bad news for sports fans and trivia lovers. Next month, Arcadia's well-loved sports bar Hazelwoods First Place Sports Grill will close its doors to the public and shut off its many flat-screen TVs.
The bar and restaurant, located at 3626 East Indian School Road, has been sold to new owners and will officially close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. That means the end of the bar's popular three-nights-a-week trivia contests, which have been known to draw quite a lively crowd. You'll also have to live without the spot's giant wings and Bavarian pretzels.
The only silver lining is that the sports bar will be offering happy hour all day from now until closing, so at the very least, you can soak up the last of the Hazelwoods goodness on the cheap.
Of course, Arcadia sports fiends can still get their fix right across the street at Zipps Sports Grill — though we prefer the neighborhood feel of Arcadia Tavern, located just a little farther east on Indian School Road.
