You heard of Pimp My Ride, right? Well, how about Pimp My Restaurant?
That's what I'm calling the dramatic transformation of an eatery at the Phoenician.
It started off as The Terrace, a traditional American restaurant, but a million dollars later, it's now stepping out as Il Terrazzo, an Italian restaurant with specialties from all across Italy. Victor Casanova, who recently left his post as the sous chef at New York City's Ocean Club, is the chef de cuisine.
Set to open on Monday, June 2, Il Terrazzo will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a contemporary Sunday brunch that will launch mid-summer.
Among the cheeses, house-baked breads and homemade pastas on the menu, look for entrees such as spicy Tuscan seafood stew with plum tomatoes, Sardinian fregola, squid, clams, shrimp and mussels, along with agnolotti filled with sweet corn, mascarpone, goat cheese and thyme in a brown butter sage sauce. To drink, there will be a variety of Italian wines, bellinis, and house-made limoncello. For more info, call 480-941-8200.
