Forks up, Phoenix! Chow Bella and Roosevelt Row present the fourth annual Pie Social on Saturday, November 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the "What Should Go Here" Pop Up Park at Second and Roosevelt streets. We've got an all-star lineup of bakers making pies for you to taste, and from now till Pie Social, we'll introduce them to you, one by one.

Today: Julie Moreno and her daughter Justine Hankerson of Jewel's Bakery and Cafe

This will be Julie Moreno's first year competing in Pie Social and, quite frankly, we're a bit surprised she found the time. When we stopped by the East Phoenix storefront that will eventually be Jewel's Bakery and Cafe, we found little more than a shell of a restaurant, with a heck of a lot more concrete and power tools than we'd been expecting. She's had to put the opening back a few times already but has her fingers crossed they'll be done in a few more weeks.

And while Julie has the gluten-free baking more than under control, her daughter Justine Hankerson will be head cook and in charge of all things savory. There will be gluten-free pizzas, sandwiches and salads to look forward to, all of which have passed inspection by Julie's gluten-eating husband to ensure maximum taste.

So what can we expect at Pie Social this year? Both of them were pretty tight-lipped but hinted that they've pooled their talents to create a sweet and savory pie.

Intriguing.
