Better start thinking about the holidays, people. Now that the Halloween hangovers are starting to fade, there's work to be done, shopping lists to be made, and a whole lot of food to be devoured between now and New Year's.
Barrio Cafe chef Silvana Salcido Esparza's offering a heck of a hot ticket for December, a hands-on tamale-making class that would make just as much of a great early Christmas present as it would a useful how-to on favorite Mexican holiday eats.
Talk about learning from a pro -- Esparza was nominated for a James Beard Award this past year. And as if tamale-making doesn't sound fun enough, participants will be able to slurp down a margarita while making their goodies.
Classes will be offered at 11 a.m. on December 11, 11 a.m. on December 13, and 6 p.m. on December 13. It's $60 per person (cash only), and space will be limited to 20 people per class, so early sign-up is highly recommended. Proceeds will benefit the Calle 16 Mural Project.
