Obama's 2010 legislation requires large chains to post calorie counts, which prompted many restaurants to alter their menus with smaller, more healthful options. New chains dedicated to "healthy fast food" have also popped up around the Valley and the nation.
One of the latest is Naked Pizza, which opened its third Valley location at 1380 N. Litchfield Road in Goodyear this past Friday. The store will also serve as a business hub and training facility for local franchisees.
The carryout pizza chain was founded in post-Katrina New Orleans and backed in part by Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Where does the nakedness come in? Thankfully, it has nothing to do with public nudity, nyotaimori, or underground parties where guests eat desserts off of a live model.

By naked, they just mean all-natural, without high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils -- you know, the kinds of ingredients that TV's Dr. Oz would condemn despite the corn and oil industry's assertions that they're equivalent to the real thing. The pizza makers at Naked don't even use refined sugar in their crust.
The eatery's website cheekily describes other pizzas as a "big donut slathered with tomato sauce." According to the site, other pies are made from white flour, which your body views in the same way it would a Dr. Pepper Big Gulp. We're guessing 7-Eleven execs might disagree with that claim.
Naked Pizza's crust is handmade from a blend of 10 grains including quinoa and spelt, agave fiber and probiotics like those found in yogurt. You can customize your pie in 10-, 12-, and 14-inch sizes starting at $5.99 with "flora" veggie toppings and hormone-free meats, or pick a pre-designed pizza for $12.99-16.99.
There are currently three Valley Naked Pizza locations or franchises open, with plans to add four more by the end of the summer. Visit their website for locations, hours, full menu and delivery options.
