Norway Turns To Interpretive Dance To Sell More Fish

Remember those "Got Milk?" and "Beef, It's What's For Dinner" ads? Well Norway is apparently trying to convince its people to eat more fish and to that end they've introduced a series of truly horrifying awesome advertisements promoting sushi.

It turns out the Norway is actually the second largest exporter of fish in the world behind China. But Norwegians aren't that fond of fish themselves. Maybe that's not surprising since Norway is the country that invented hakarl which is arguably the least tasty sounding seafood ever.

This latest push by the Norwegian Seafood Council to promote domestic fish consumption is largely about expanding people's perception of what you can do with fish. The industry's webpage Godfisk (Good Fish) appears to be run a great deal like industry advertising campaigns here in the States. Just like our pork industry's page, Godfisk includes a database of fish recipes, instructional videos and the always slightly creepy push to teach your kids about fish.

The Human Sushi dance troupe has two more videos up and they're all just as equally bizarre and hilarious. While we admit that our grasp of Norwegian is a little shaky, we were able to ascertain that the leader of The Human Sushi is a man named Arthur who is described as, "an energetic Norwegian speaking Frenchman." We can only hope that Will Ferrel decides to take his Old Milwaukee ads in new and dance-centric direction so foreign food blogs can describe his exploits similarly.
