Just in time for the holiday season, pastry chef Country Veldaor and husband Sergio opened their sweet-minded shop in Old Town Scottsdale. Called Super Chunk Sweets and Treats the charming retail spot is an outpost to get your hands on a variety of the chef's handcrafted desserts. The store, meant to be grab-and-go, opened Tuesday at 7120 East 6th Avenue, between Cowboy Ciao and Geisha A Go Go.

You'll be able to buy four varieties of gourmet caramel corn: brown butter fleur de sel, chocolate pretzel hazelnut, chocolate bacon and "Junk Food." The store will also be selling duck fat toffee, cashew brittle and a peppermint version of the brutti ma buoni cookies served at this year's Scottsdale Culinary Festival.
In a small freezer you'll find containers of ice cream as well as take-and-bake cookie dough.
And finally there's the pastry case where the Jon and Yoko miniature cakes reside next to similar Black Swan companions. The former, a milk and honey cakes features bourbon and cinnamon, while the later Country describes as "Black Forest inspired." There are also full sized S'mores and Pineapple Upsidedown Cakes ($48 each) available -- in addition to her award-winning Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie.
Super Chunk will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The store will be closed on Christmas day, but will be open on Christmas Eve.
In two weeks Country says she'll also being extended hours on Thursday for the Scottsdale Art Walk. The store will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. for Dark Side of the Moon Pie, during which time they'll be playing Dark Side of the Moon and handing out pie.
