51: Pho Filet Dac Biet at Pho Thanh

With more than 160 items on the menu, finding your next favorite at Pho Thanh, the budget-friendly neighborhood eatery in Phoenix, might take a while. Such a shame for lovers of Vietnamese cuisine -- not.

May we suggest starting your journey with the house specialty, pho, a Vietnamese noodle dish made in the manner of lengthy cooking, complex seasoning, and crazy full flavor. Our favorite? The pho filet dac biet.

Brimming with sliced beef, meatballs, soft tendon, beef brisket, and small bits of tripe added to tender rice noodles and a rich beef broth, the intense, rich flavor of the pho filet dac biet offered layers of taste and a flavorful aroma with every bite. Customize it with cilantro, sawtooth herb, jalapeños, bean sprouts, lime, and basil from the accompanying plate or spice it up with a squirt or two of sriracha sauce.

A hearty, seasoned treat for around five bucks. And, given the size, there's a good chance you'll be taking home leftovers.
