Postino WineCafe to Open in Scottsdale: Upward Projects Announces Plans for Two New Locations

It was inevitable, we guess.

After all, Upward Projects already has set up shop in uptown Phoenix, Arcadia, Tempe, and Gilbert. Now the local hospitality company has set its sights to the east and north, announcing plans to open two more locations of the popular Postino WineCafe in central and north Scottsdale. 

Because how many Postinos is too many? We're not sure, but apparently the answer is not six.  

The fifth Postino WineCafe is expected to open in October in central Scottsdale. In keeping with the Upward Projects tradition of opening restaurants in "historically relevant buildings" (in the words of owner Craig DeMarco), the wine bar and restaurant will take over the former '60s-era Valley National Bank at 4821 North Scottsdale Road.

It'll be dubbed Postino Highland. 

The 5,900-square-foot building, which sits on the northeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Highland, was co-designed by local architect Frank Henry of Weaver & Drover. If you don't recognize the name, you'll definitely recognize the "Mushroom Bank" he designed that sits on the southeast corner of 44th Street and Camelback in Phoenix. The restaurant will have both a front and back patio, as well as the wine bar's signature yellow rollaway garage doors. 

A second wine bar is tentatively expected to open in November. Postino Kierland, as the name indicates, will be located at Kierland Commons in North Scottsdale. Plans are still being finalized for that location, but you can expect the usual stuff: indoor/outdoor design, rollaway garage doors, multiple patios — and pretty people drinking $5 glasses of wine.
