Most of us typically hit up Roosevelt Row for some live music or a little art ogling, but come September, RoRo will be serving up some culture of the hell-hot kind: that of the chile pepper.

From 4 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, RoRo's first Chile Pepper Festival will take place at A.R.T.S. Project #1 (408 East Roosevelt Street.) The homage to the Southwestern ingredient will feature heapin' helpin's of the Valley's best green chile dishes (plus, beer and margaritas to was them down with), a chile pepper roasting, and a free salsa sampling and salsa showdown. Local restaurants and food trucks will also be on hand with chile-fied fare.

And because it's RoRo, expect the festival to include lots of live local music and even a Chile Pepper Queen beauty/talent pageant with drag queens.

Admission to Roosevelt Row's Chile Pepper Festival is $10 in advance and $15 at the door (children under four get in free.) Admission covers entrance, live entertainment, and salsa samples. Food and beverage must be purchased separately.

Expected attendance is 3,000.
