Uptown Plaza, the shopping center located on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road, will welcome two new restaurant tenants in the upcoming months: a second Arizona location of Shake Shack, the New York City-based burger chain founded by Danny Meyer, and a third location of Flower Child, Sam Fox's health-focused fast-casual restaurant.

According to Vintage Partners, the Arizona-based commercial real estate development and investment company that's managing the redevelopment of the shopping center, the new restaurants are scheduled to open in "late 2015/early 2016."

An extensive renovation of the entire center, originally built in 1955 by the Del Webb Co., began in 2014 and has included restoring the center's original brick facade. Vintage Partners also plans to bring in a team of designers, builders, and landscape architects to "carefully renovat[e] and re-merchandiz[e] this this landmark property to restore Uptown Plaza as one of the Valley's most desirable retail destinations."

Earlier this year, Shake Shack announced plans to open its first Arizona restaurant at Scottsdale Fashion Square. The burger chain originally started as a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park but since has expended to include restaurants from New York to Texas all of which draw fans that sometimes wait hours to dine.

The original location of Scottsdale-based restaurateur Sam Fox's Flower Child opened in about a year ago in a shopping center on the northeast corner of 44th Street at Camelback Road in Phoenix. Earlier this year he opened a second location of the restaurant in Scottsdale.
