Sol Diablo Cantina Kitchen, the newest restaurant from the folks that brought the Valley the Humble Pie chain of pizzerias, may have soft opened for the ASU game against Wisconsin last Saturday (go Sun Devils!), but this weekend, its fiesta grande time.

Promising a "mouth-watering menu of tacos, salsa, and tasty gringo Mexicano treats that will make Tempe the taco capital of the galaxy," Sol Diablo, located in University Towers across the street from Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium, will be serving up 99-cent tacos, $1.99 shots of tequila, and dance beats from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22.

The cantina seems built to party. Its 3,500-square-foot space and three-tiered, 2,500-square-foot patios feature plenty of lounge areas; decór accents like gargoyles, rusted metal flowers, and Dia de los Muertos items; and entertainment in the form of DJs and acoustic music.

On the food side, look for standard Mexican favorites like chips and guacamole, tacos, and burritos

"We designed Sol Diablo to be Tempe's costal, urban taco retreat," says co-founder and owner Spike Lawrence. "The patio may be in the desert, but once you're beneath the decades-old trees, listening to live music, enjoying soulful street tacos under the blue sky or the star-filled sky, you're in paradise."
