The Swedes famously celebrate Midsummer with fabulous outdoor feasts of Nordic delicacies. Here in Phoenix, it's a little too warm for an outdoor fete, but that isn't stopping IKEA from hosting a Midsummer Smörgåsbord today at their store in Tempe.
The feast features an all-you-can-eat buffet of items including, herring, hard-boiled eggs with shrimp, gravad lax with mustard sauce, smoked salmon, poached salmon, cucumber salad, fruit salad, Swedish cheese boards, dill potatoes, Prinskorv sausage, Crispbread, and an assortment of desserts and beverages, as well as IKEA's signature meatballs with lingonberries. The buffet tickets cost $16.99 for adults and $4.99 for children under 12 (IKEA family member discounted rates are $12.99 for adults and $2.99 for kids).
There are three scheduled seatings: 1:30 to 3 p.m.; 4 to 5:30 p.m.; and 6:30 to 8 p.m., so call ahead (888-888-4532) to check on ticket availability, or purchase your tickets beforehand from customer service.
