The Lath House at Heritage Park has never been as lively as it was on Saturday, March 22 for Tequilaaz, a tequila and mescal festival that had hundreds downing agave goodness and feasting on fare from local restaurants.
The festival lasted from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and included live music, a silent auction of tequila gift baskets and a margarita show down that pitted 13 local mixologists against each other.
We at Chow Bella tried to pay attention to everything that was going on, but we'd be lying if we didn't admit that most of our attention was on the several varieties of tequila up for sampling.
El Tesoro, Don Julio, Jose Cuervo and most of the bottles you're used to seeing were present, but often with curious little surprises. Did you know Patron makes a coffee-infused tequila?
Easily the most interesting thing we consumed during the festival was the cucumber margarita from Cruz Tequila. As a general rule we shy away from non-textbook cocktails. Why knock something as classic as the margarita? Here's why: The cucumber margarita was absolutely delicious.
If you couldn't make it out, fear not. Take a look at our slide show from Tequilaaz while sipping your favorite reposado and it will be as if you were right there.
