Downtown Chandler, you're getting a new restaurant and bar. Called The Brickyard Downtown, the new spot is expected to open in December at 85 West Boston Street.

The restaurant comes from Gavin Jacobs, former co-owner of nearby Vintage 95 wine bar, and partner Elliott Hall of Hall Investment Properties, who owns the property. Though it's been vacant for about a year, the building was the historical home of the Chandler Arizonan, a newspaper first published in 1912 that was bought by the East Valley Tribune

To preserve the integrity of the historic building, the owners plan to expose the original brick and raw concrete floors. They'll also add roll-away garage doors that lead out to a patio. The restaurant will seat about 90 people.

According to Jacobs, The Brickyard Downtown will specialize in craft cocktails and shareable dinner options. The menu will be New American, and drinkers can look forward to seasonal cocktails and 12 beers on tap. The restaurant will open at 3 p.m. daily and the kitchen will stay open until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
