Vegan diners with a desire for healthy eats on the go have a new spot to check out in Mesa.

The Oatmeal Cafe opened last month on the southeast corner of Dobson and Guadalupe roads and is serving an entirely vegan menu of breakfast items and light snacks. The cafe comes courtesy of Melissa Webb, who's been selling her Iss' Magic Mixes oatmeals at local farmers markets since 2011.

The cafe is, of course, serving all of Webb's oatmeal creations. Flavor varieties range from the familiar -- original, blueberry vanilla almond, and pumpkin spice -- to the more unexpected, including root beer float, Chocolate Cherry Rapture, and Jewels of India.

The oatmeals are made with a mix of rolled oats, cinnamon, flaxseed, chia seeds, and almond meal to deliver a high-protein, low-sugar meal. At the cafe, they can be served traditional-style (with hot water), as well as with almond or soy milk, yogurt, applesauce, or warm coconut oil.

There are also options such as pancakes, cookies, muffins, and scones, all of which are made from the oatmeal bases.

For drinks, The Oatmeal Cafe offers a selection of vegan smoothies with health add-ins such as hemp and cacao available. The cafe also serves local teas from Wisdom Nectar Teas and Olive Leaf Tea Company.

And though you won't find any coffee, you can get a cup of Teeccino, or herbal coffee alternative.
