Sorry, sailors, but it looks like you have one less place to get your seafood fix.
As of earlier this month, The Yacht Club in Arcadia has closed its doors for good. The restaurant, which occupied a high-profile location on Indian School Road near 44th Street, has been dark for weeks and the phone line has been disconnected.
The restaurant opened about a year ago at 4231 East Indian School Road, in the former home of longstanding Italian restaurant La Fontanella. The casual seafood eatery came from local restaurateur Aaron May, who's best known as the man behind Over Easy, and for The Lodge, a Sasquatch-themed bar and restaurant originally located in Old Town Scottsdale, though it moved to Tempe last summer.
The Yacht Club opened amid a spike of seafood restaurants in the Valley that included spots such as Walrus & the Pearl, an oyster bar located at Downtown Phoenix's DeSoto Central Market, and Buck &Rider, a seafood restaurant also located in Arcadia that comes from the well-known LGO Hospitality Group (Le Grande Orange Grocery, Chelsea's Kitchen, Ingo's Tasty Food). The restaurant, however, struggled to find its groove, receiving a lukewarm review from New Times just four months ago.
The Tempe location of May's Over Easy, which opened in June 2015, also shuttered earlier this year. That restaurant was open for just seven months.
