This isn't the first time that the folks behind Welcome Chicken + Donuts and Sweet Republic have collaborated in the kitchen. And it's not even the first time that the two fan favorite eateries have done an ice cream mashup.

But neither of those facts makes us any less excited to say that this Sunday, you'll be able to get donut ice cream made with Welcome Chicken + Donuts donuts at Sweet Republic in Phoenix.

That's right. This Sunday if can you get your butt over to the Phoenix location of the award-winning ice creamery, you'll be able to buy a scoop of donut ice cream. The unique creation is made with donuts from Welcome Chicken + Donuts, the second restaurant from the duo behind Welcome Diner.

According to Sweet Republic's Helen Yung, the ice cream is made by blending donuts into the shop's housemade ice cream base. She also packs in some additional donut-iness by making donut "croutons" that are folded into the final product.

The result is a sweet treat that perfectly blends two of our favorite guilty pleasures. With a hint of cinnamon and a touch of apple, this ice cream somehow tastes exactly like a donut in ice cream form.

Last week Sweet Republic made donut ice cream available at their original Scottsdale location -- and the limited time item sold out well before the end of the day. If you want to get a scoop this second time around, we'd suggest you act fast.

The good news is Yung says she'll "probably" make donut ice cream again, though she can't say when exactly that will be.

Sweet Republic in Phoenix is located at 6045 North 16th Street and will be open from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. For more information check the Sweet Republic website and Facebook.
