The cooking staff at the Black Bear Casino Resort, Minnesota, managed a minor food engineering feat over the Labor Day weekend when they cooked and assembled the largest burger ever.

Now we will admit, usually these "World's Largest" winners are pretty cheesy because it's usually a bunch of regular sized versions of the dish assembled at one time. A bunch of sandwich rolls laid end to end is hardly the world's longest sandwich.

But this, this is the real deal. The buns and the burger are whole pieces that were cooked at as such. They actually had to build an giant makeshift outdoor oven for baking and grilling the burgers and buns. The video indicates that they ran through at least two giant tanks of propane to keep the heat stable enough to bake. These aren't mere chefs, these are food engineers.

When it was all said and done the bacon cheeseburger they assembled worked out to 2014 pounds, just slightly over 1 ton of pure American ingenuity. Perhaps most shockingly, it actually looked pretty good... provided you want to eat a burger with a "patty" a foot in thickness. According to local reports they had to construct a 15-foot wide "skillet" lit by propane torches to cook everything.

Now here's a time lapse video showing the entire process from start to finish. It looks like a very long and very strange day.
