While most folks were content with flipping their third-pound burgers atop a grill this weekend, Brett Enright, chief executive of Juicys traveling barbecue and ASU alumnus, and Nick Nicora, co-owner of Ovations Food Services, joined forces to create a record-breaking meat beast at the Alameda County Fair on Saturday.
The Associated Press reports the mammoth burger weighed in at 777 pounds, obliterating the Guinness World Record of 590 pounds. Enright and Nicora started cooking 600 pounds of meat at 5 a.m. After 15 hours of cooking, the patty had shrank to about 400 pounds. Fixings included 50 pounds of cheese, 30 pounds of lettuce, and 20 pounds of onions.
Spectators got to taste the giant burger for 99 cents per serving.
