Several hundred people marched in celebration of International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, in downtown Phoenix on Monday, May 1. The protest was organized by the Puente Human Rights Movement. Protesters met at the State Capitol and marched to Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail. "We are here because we need [Sheriff Paul] Penzone to remove federal ICE agents from this facility," said Maria Castro, an organizer with Puente.
