ASU Workshop: Innovations in Sustainable Food Systems Today through Wednesday, May 6

So you buy all your produce at the farmer's market; you only eat organic, free-range, grass-fed, hormone- and antibiotic-free meat; and your eggs are from the happiest chickens on the block. But is it enough? Get answers to that question, plus more at ASU's sustainable food systems workshop. Through highly interactive discussion, this three-day workshop will focus on developing impactful, on-the-ground work to inspire younger generations. The workshop costs $15 for ASU students, and $85 for the general public. The fee includes discussions with ASU's leading professors in the field of sustainability, site visits to Singh Farms and Agritopia, as well as meals. The first day will be held at the ASU Memorial Union, with a shuttle to Sky Song and farm sites on the following days. For more information or to register for the workshop, see the ASU Food Systems website.

Joe's Real BBQ Wednesday, May 6

This Wednesday, May 6 is the annual Customer Appreciation Day at Joe's Real BBQ. And what better way to say "I appreciate you" than by giving away free food? Line up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. or 4 to 8 p.m. to take your pick from pulled pork or chicken breast sandwich, accompanied by BBQ beans, coleslaw, and a drink. Kids meals will also be available. While the meal is completely free, those who would like to help are encouraged to bring canned food and boxes of cereal to the on-site collection drive at the restaurant at 301 North Gilbert Road in Gilbert.
