Uptown Farmers Market Grand Opening Celebration Saturday, January 3
This Saturday the Uptown Farmers Market, held weekly on the southeast corner of Central and Bethany Home Road, will host a grand opening celebration with live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and prize giveaways. Expect more than 60 vendors including Arizona Microgreens, Double Check Ranch, Alaskan Pride Seafoods, Hayden Flour Mills, McClendon's Select, Noble Bread, and Udder Delights, who will give away 200 scoops of ice cream in celebration of the event. Organizers will raffle off prizes including Phoenix Chamber Music Society tickets; gift certificates to Frances Vintage, FnB, and Sierra Bonita Grill; and local food items -- and for the kids, look forward to a free bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, and relay races. The Uptown Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. from October through April and is held on the north side of the North Phoenix Baptist Church property. French Grocery Saturday, December 3

If it's been a while since you stopped in to Phoenix's French Grocery, things may have changed a bit since your last visit. These days in the evening the bakery and bistro is serving a bistro menu of affordable French eats such as gougères with mornay sauce ($6), crab canape with beurre noisette ($10), and beef bourguignon ($15) -- and best of all it's available until 10 p.m. Space is limited to just 36 seats including the bar and pub tables, so reservations are recommended for parties larger than four. Weekend Brunch at Blasted Barley Sunday, December 4
Tempe's newest microbrewery, restaurant, and bar is now serving brunch, which means you can add Blasted Barley on Mill Avenue to your list of weekend dining destinations. On Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can get weekend brunch at the Tempe spot -- and because what's brunch without booze, there's also $10 bottomless mimosas with all brunch orders.
